Flossing is very important, which is why it’s recommended to floss at least once a day. Unfortunately, flossing when you have braces can be quite difficult, which can lead to skipping your flossing routine altogether. This is a big mistake and should be avoided at all costs. Our orthodontist, Dr. Richard Barnett, is happy to help you make flossing easier by giving you the tips you need, which are:

-Use a floss threader: A floss threader helps you place the floss in the perfect position to clean your teeth. It does this without much inconvenience! Just thread the floss through the looped portion of the tool, thread the tool under the wire (while holding one end of the floss), and pull the tool away to let the floss go. There, push the floss between your teeth and clean away!

-Use a water flosser: A water flosser is a handy flossing tool that cleans your smile and braces with water. It is a wand and water reservoir that has pressure levels that meet your needs and likes. When you push the tip against the crevice between your teeth and spray, the crack can be cleaned of plaque, bacteria, and food particles.

-Use waxed floss: Waxed floss is a resilient product that can slide smoothly around your smile without catching on your hardware. This is a great tool to use to help you have a more pleasant flossing experience.
